Kitsilano Character

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA

Our vision for this project was to preserve the integrity of this Kitsilano character home while creating a beautiful and inviting entertaining area.

Kitsilano Character Reno (18)

Our vision to maintain the integrity of our clients home inspired us to create a kitchen with loads of character. The ‘wow’ factor and design feature is certainly the royal blue La Cornue, CornuFé range and tiled feature wall, which pulls colours from the range and wood accents to tie everything together beautifully.

By adding windows and removing a wall separating the kitchen and dining room, we were able to brighten up the space and created a large, functional kitchen and open dining nook.

The piece of lumber seen above the dining nook (photo above) is a family heirloom that was incorporated into the design to bring a touch of history to the space.

Elements throughout the house such as the intricate detailing of the metal fireplace surround, metal inlay in the glass cabinets, and beautiful turquoise accent tub wall further speaks to the character of this home.

“Madeleine seemed to be able to see inside my head to take my dreams and turn them into reality. I particularly appreciated that she really listened to me so that the resulting design was something personalized that truly reflected my taste.

Madeleine expertly guided me through the bewildering maze of choices in cabinetry, fixtures, and paint colors to come up with a final product that exceeded my expectations in every respect. Through clever use of space and colour, she gave me a welcoming, open, bright, and homey renovation that honored the character features of my home and delivered both beauty and function.”
